Mr. Bush, It is really time for.....? |
(ENGLISH)
As of Friday, Sept. 22, at least 2,695
members of the U.S. military have died
since the beginning of the Iraq war in
March 2003. US representative
Jim McGovern wrote in USA Today that
"the war was a mistake." He said more
than 2,700 ofUS soldiers have lost their
lives. More than 20,000 have been
wounded and ten of thousands of Iraqi civilians have been killed. Billions
of taxpayers dollars have been wasted. Every day the war gets worse,
not better. US should take a different approach. Pulling US troops out is
the only way to force the Iraqis and the global community to finally begin
to forge a better future for Iraq.
CNN founder Ted Turner who promised in 1998 to donate $1 billion per
year for a decade to United Nation also said" The U.S. invasion of Iraq
was among the dumbest moves of all time." He told Reuters that "it is
already being seen in history, as one of the dumbest moves that ranks
with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor and the German invasion of
Russia. You don't start wars just because you don't like somebody."
When the war began, many Americans supported the military action
against Iraq because they thought it would be the only way to defend the
US from Saddam’s weapons of mass destruction. Those weapons were
not only found, but also nothing has changed for the better. It no longer
matters why the Iraq war began, the Bush administration needs to look
back at our history such as Vietnam war and listen to public voices,
including Turner. According to the latest death reported, a US soldier was
killed by a roadside bombing in Baghdad yesterday. Saving even one life
is worth more than anything else. I want the Bush administration to view
the death of a soldier as more important than victory.
