Bakabon’s Papa’s Words |
(ENGLISH)
Hi, readers. I found a nice poem that truely touched my heart and I would like to introduce it to you today. Before that, let me make some remarks
about the poem. I accidentally found the poem “Bakabon’s Papa’s Words”
in a website, while I was surfing the net in hope of finding an idea for
Bakabon’s papa’s favorite phrase “It’s Okay.” This simple words, “It's
Okay,”came to my mind, when I was down, and one of my girl friends
taught me that the phrase has a philosophical element of Buddhist
concepts that gives us an important lesson in life. What she says is if I
say “It’s Okay” to myself, then it will really become “Okay” because the
fundamental principle of “It’s Okay” is everything is, after all, going to be
okay. She also said that the term “Bakabon” came from a Sanskrit
word “Bhagavan” that means a supreme person. Because the
phrase “It’s Okay” really boosted my spirit, I began to search the web for
the true meaning of “It’s Okay,” and then I happened to know about the
poem “Bakabon’s Papa’s Words” in the net. According to the site called
GAIA, the poem is originally from a book written by a Buddhist priest,
Houzo Noguchi.
Bakabon’s Papa’s Words
I'm Bakabon's Papa
The world is complicated
It does not work as I expect
But, I'm alright
I'm always who I am, so I'm alright
I'm saying it's okay, so I'm alright
You're also who you are and that's okay
That's okay
That's okay
I'm retired
I'm retired from all the worry
So, I'm not tired
What do you say
It's okay
It's okay
After all, it's okay
According to a Fujio Akatsuka official site, the root of the name “Bakabon”
seems different from the origin of the sanskrit word. The following is the
answers for some queries posted in the site.
Q1: which one is the actual root of the name “Bakabon”?
1) from a foolish bonbon.
2) Bakabon’s papa refers to a person as a “vagabond” in English that
means a wanderer who has no home.
Papa:
Both are correct. You don’t have to care about it and that’s okay if it’s fun!Q2: Where did the basic idea of the phrase come from?
Papa:
Affirm everything existing in this world. All of what happened
is right.
Say “It's Okay” to yourself. That actually makes your heart light. You can be who you are and that’s okay. If your friend is rich and you are poor,
that's okay. Even if you lose home, job, money, lover, friends and
everything, that's okay, too, fine. Everything is going to be okay. That’s
okay, it’s okay!
NOTE:
Tensai Bakabon is a manga created by Fujio Akatsuka which began publication in 1967. It is about the misadventures of a dim-witted boy, Bakabon
and his foolish father, Bakabon’s Papa. (Wikipedia)
