BORAT ! (2006) |
(ENGLISH)
The most recent controversy film in the
U.S.“Borat”--- Cultural Learnings of
America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation
of Kazakhstan--- has been No.1 at the
box office this week. I just saw the movie
today! Sacha Baron Cohen, the British
Jewish comedian, plays a Kazakh journalist
(Borat), and he travels from Kazakhstan to the U.S. to produce a TV documentary
aimed for examining American culture to
“make benefits” for Kazakhstan, as the
title says. During his trip across the country with his TV producer, he meets a lot of Americans.
Why this film is so controvery is that there has been so much crude,
vulgar and extremely gross humor, so it is just disgusting to some
people. For instance, do you want to see this scene like male buttocks or
teenage boy’s thing (heeeee), naked fight of males, gross-out toilet
humor, and a cruel scene.(as long as I remember, there was only one
scene in it) Also, the movie may not be for
you, if you are sensitive about
political, religious or racial issues
because Borat makes hugely offensive remarks about Jewish, homosexuals,
and women, such as “ All gays in
Kazakhstan are killed” or “Women in
Kazakhstan are slaves.” However,
if you don't take such comments
seriously,(because this is a comedy!)
and love pretty cheap jokes like “My sister is number 1 prostitute in
Kazakhstan”you will feel so funny. “Borat” is actually neither about
Kazakhstan nor just for laughs. Borat meets many stereotyped Americans
who were somewhat kind at first, but turn back when they encounter
cultural differences, though his behavior is extremely odd or weird...
(who want a prostitute as a gift??)
If you attempt to think about what the sub-title exactly means, you might
find this movie highly amazing. “Borat” is one that you either hate or
love. Me? well, as a matter of fact, I laughed so hard at the naked fight of
fat and skinny(Borat) guy with some homosexual positions that there
were tears in my eyes. Everyone else also laughed out loud at the scene
continued more than a few minutes, and later I heard their moans like”oh
my god...” all over the place. “Borat” is hilarious! Just take it easy!
By the way, Sacha Baron Cohen (Picture below) is so different from “Borat”, and Sacha, himself, does not look so bad... hehe
