Many couples are planning weddings for
Saturday when the date will be 7-7-07 and
trying to include the number 7 as many
times as possible in their big day. They
have chosen the number 7 for lucky-number
purposes and 7-7-07 is the luckiest day of
the century for superstitious couples. The
Little White Chapel where Britney Spears was married, is planning to hold
500 weddings, with group weddings of 7 couples at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m."Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria is also marrying in Paris on 07/07/07. 　（REUTERS)

Three sevens also marks a slot machine jackpot. But why is the number
7 so lucky ?Though it seems the exact origin of the idea is unknown, the
number 7 is seen as lucky for various reasons – religious, psychological and spiritual. The most well known theory is probably biblical reference to
the number 7.　The world was created in six days and God rested on the
seventh, and therefore there are seven days of the week, Other than this, seven colors of the rainbow, Seven wonders of the world, and
Japan’s seven lucky Gods!　Wow, interesting!

This may be out of the topic, but have you ever heard of this
superstition, “Make a wish on 11:11" If you make a wish, when you look
at the clock at that time, it can come true. You may have the similar
superstitions about the number. For instance, you may see the same
number sequence repeatedly. It could be any numbers like 555, 222 and
what have you, and for you, it is a message or sign from the Universe or
whatever you believe. Have you ever noticed about that? It looks like
1111 is the common superstitions around the world as well as 777.

を挙げる予定で、このビッグイベントの日に、少しでも
多く数字の７を絡ませようとしているのだそうです。
カップルたちは数字の7がラッキーナンバーなので、
この日を選んだわけですが、迷信深いカップルにとって、
この日は世紀のラッキーディにあたるのだとか。
ブリトニー・スピアーズが結婚式を行なった小さな
ホワイトチャペルでは500の結婚式を予定しており、
そのうちの7カップルが朝の7時と夕方の7時に
結婚式を行なうのだそうです。又、ドラマ
「デスパレートな妻たち」で知られるイヴァ・モンゴリアも07/07/07にパリで結婚を
するのだそうです。

スロットマシンのジャックポットも777ですね。でも、どうして数字の7は縁起が
いいのでしょう？どうやら、正確な起源は分かってないようで、宗教的な要素や、
心理的なもの、精神的な事等、色々な理由で７はラッキーだと思われているよう
です。最も良く知られる理論は多分数字の7に対する聖書の引用ではないで
しょうか？世界は6日間で創られ、神様は7日目に休息を取った事から、一週間が
7日になったという。この他にも、7色の虹や、世界7不思議、そして日本の7福神
もありますね！へえ、面白い！

トピックから離れるかもしれませんが、皆さんは「11:11分に願いをかけろ」
という迷信をご存知ですか？時計を見て、この時間にあたったら、願い事を
するのです。そしたら、叶うかもしれないという。もしかしたら、数字に関する似た
ような迷信を皆さんお持ちかもしれませんね。例えば、しばしば、ぞろ目の数字を
見るとか。それは555でも、222でも、何でもいいのですが、それがあなたに
とっては宇宙、或いはあなたが信じるもの何でもいいのですが、そこからの
メッセージか何かのサインという事です。そんな風に気づいた事ってありますか？
1111というのは777と同様に世界共通の迷信であるようです。驚きですね！
